History

The Propeller Club idea was conceived in New York in 1922 when a small group of men engaged in the marine industry gathered to discuss mutual problems and the future of American shipping. The group expanded and in 1923 they formally organized and established the propeller club of the Port of New York. The establishment of the New York organization laid the keel for the Propeller club of the United States which was founded four years later. Following our maritime brothers, the Port of Norfolk soon established a local chapter in 1931.
